What we do:
Safety Verification and Validation is the stage where all verification and validation activities are carried out. Acting as the bridge between design and real-world operation, it provides structured, objective evidence that every risk reduction measure has been correctly implemented and performs as intended, and that each hazard identified, estimated, and evaluated during the risk assessment has been effectively closed out, with its residual risk reduced to an acceptable level, and that no new hazard has been introduced by the risk reduction measures themselves.
Verification and validation cover the full set of risk reduction measures across the three-step hierarchy of EN ISO 12100, in line with the state of the art. We confirm that inherently safe design measures have been implemented as intended; that safeguarding is effective, including fixed and movable guards (EN ISO 14120), interlocking devices (EN ISO 14119), safety distances (EN ISO 13857), and electrical equipment (EN 60204-1); and that the information for use, including safety markings, warnings, and instructions, is in place. For the safety-related parts of control systems, we carry out quantified verification that the achieved Performance Level meets or exceeds the required Performance Level (PL ≥ PLr) in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1, and validate the safety functions under both normal and fault conditions, including fault simulation, in accordance with EN ISO 13849-2.
Verification also extends beyond the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 to every other applicable EU directive, confirming and evidencing compliance where relevant with the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive 2014/30/EU, the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU, and the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, among others.
This stage also produces the documentary evidence base for conformity. We compile the verification and validation records, the Conformity Assessment Report documenting the conformity assessment procedure applied, and, on a requirement-by-requirement basis, the documented evidence that every applicable Essential Health and Safety Requirement has been met. Together these support the Technical Documentation and give the manufacturer the objective evidence needed for CE marking and their Declaration of Conformity.
